Almost half of those questioned (48%) said they would sack a bridesmaid who did not abide by the contract. You & Your Wedding magazine, asked more than 1000 women which clauses they would like to see in a contract. The main clause in the contract seems to state that their maid-of-honour must not gain weight, fall pregnant or change their hairstyle before the big day. It seems bride-to-be's have reason for the sudden caution after stories received by the magazine from the survey. One woman submitted a story about a maid-of-honour who left her dress at a service station on the way to the wedding after deciding she didn't like it, while another said a bridesmaid had left 30 invitations unsent in her desk drawer. The magazine also came up with a few of its own ideas, suggesting bridesmaids should sign clauses agreeing they would not consume more than 10 units of alcohol at the wedding or make any advances towards inappropriate male guests, although they didn't specify who this might include – the groom, for one, you'd think. |
