| Choosing your bridesmaids’ dresses and shoes can often be the most difficult and politically delicate part of your bridal wear selection. Remember, keep your bridesmaids happy by letting them feel comfortable and confident in the dress you choose. Traditionally all bridesmaids wear identical dresses. Becoming more popular however, is to choose the same fabric then vary the actual design to flatter each individual attendant. This is especially thoughtful when they vary in shape and size. Alternatively the same style could be used incorporating different fabrics or colours that best suit each person. When making the decisions, be sure to consider their budget and take time into account.
The time issue is particularly important when it comes to choosing shoes and accessories for the bridesmaids so start looking early. When a large group starts looking for complementary shoes and accessories, some difficulty in choosing one shoe style to suit three or four different feet, legs, bodies and minds is bound to arise. It’s a nice idea to present them with their accessories, such as earrings or a necklace, as a thank-you for being your attendant, so be sure they will wear them again before you make your final choice.
Flower girls are usually dressed in white or in the same colour as the bride. Alternatively they have a dress the same as, or similar in colour and fabric, to the bridesmaids. Whatever you choose, make sure they are comfortable and it will withstand their becoming a bit boisterous at the reception.
